Water test: it is raining today

Today, on Saturday, it did rain. A good test for all my windows and holes that I drilled into the van.

First I noticed a leak around the air outlet of the A/C. The reason was that the outlet covers the slit where two side panels hit. And at that slight gap, water could enter from the top into the outlet cover.

I did fix this by first removing the outlet cover, then putting some black Sikaflex around the edges of the cover, then affixing it again. The next rain will be the next test.

I also saw that the top right window let a few droplets of water in. I could not identify where the gap was - will investigate and will close with more Sikaflex.

The two bulls eye windows were watertight, but the left window was not fully pressed against the rubber seal. I will fix this shortly, when I will cut out the round hole in that 50x50 square wooden plate, which then will be affixed and pressed against the window from the inside, pushing it towards the rubber seal.

The three newly installed windows appeared to be tight: water accumulated at the bottom edge, but did not flow into the inside.

Leak in the roof

The strong rain finally confirmed it: there is a leak in the roof. The roof is one large piece of milky-transparent PVC, not very thick, quite bendy. It is attached to the metal box by rivets which go through a metal L-bar. Water is probably coming in either at those rivets, or at the gap between that metal and the roof PVC sheet.

There are only droplets getting through. The water seems to migrate along the inside metal, until it finds the lowest point - which is right where my pillow is in the bedroom.

Not much that I can do right now. Seems to be the only place where water gets in.

Rain gets through the roof

There was some rain these days, and I checked the Luton box to see if there was water ingress.

And there was... not very much, but in two locations there were droplets on the floor.

Not very much water, but there should be none. Any water droplets will damage the future interior.

So I need to find these leaks and fix the roof where this comes in. I suspect it is the roof, but it could also be at the side walls. Will do an investigation in the next weeks, before any further installation is done.
